Gummed Paper Tape for Packaging
Gummed paper tapes or water-activated tapes are typically made from natural adhesives and types of paper. This is a commonly used type of material used in packaging and shipping industries. These tapes work like postage stamps with the adhesive activating when it gets wet.
Dispensing machines are also available to help streamline the sealing of gummed paper tapes. There are manual and electric dispensing machines, which help with the packaging steps and will cut the tapes in uniform lengths.
Gummed paper tapes are commonly used to seal gift bags and envelopes, since they tear easily and leave no sticky residue behind. And we have the dispenser that works best with this tape.

FAQs
Are gummed tapes eco-friendly?
Non-reinforced packing tapes are 100% biodegradable. Reinforced tapes are also recyclable, but you need to take them to a recycling facility in order to do so. You only need one strip of this tape to secure heavy packages, which would have required 2-3 rounds of standard plastic tape. Saving resources on using more tape than necessary.
How much tape do you need to seal a box?
The amount of tape you need will depend on the size or the weight of your box. The ideal size for a carton box is the length across the center seam plus 2-3 inches for the overhang. For smaller boxes, such as jewelry boxes, you can use less overhang without compromising the strength of the seal or the security of your package.
Are there boxes gummed tape can’t seal?
Water-activated tapes are designed to hold strong bonds with paper and cardboard-like surfaces. However, on polished or plastic surfaces, the tape’s tack decreases significantly and may not be able to stick.
